2024 was a landmark year for democracy, with a record number of elections held worldwide. But while national and global politics continue to see growing polarization and division, local governments are charting a different path, embodying a politics of collaboration and progress.

That’s what was found in Go Vocal’s Impact Report 2024, released in March to coincide with B-Corp Month. As a certified B-Corp, Go Vocal reports on its impact each year.

The report found that in 2024, Go Vocal supported more than 450,000 people to engage in local decisions that affect their lives. 5,390 engagement projects were launched on the participation platform across more than 20 countries.

For the report, local governments were surveyed about their community engagement aspirations, finding that 90% want to engage more participants, while 73% prioritize enhancing the quality of the participation processes they offer.

On the resident side, 8/10 residents said they felt both safe and more involved thanks to using the Go Vocal platform. 8/10 reported that using the platform makes engagement easy. At the same time, 8/10 said they want more clarity on the impact of their engagement on local decision-making – helpful feedback for the local governments that serve them.
